Daniel Hengst (DE)
Daniel Hengst is an artist based in Berlin (DE) whose work has focused since 2019 on peatlands and the phenomenon of plant ignorance. Engaging with scientists and fragile ecosystems, Daniel explores how humans relate to plant life—drawing on ideas from posthuman thinking to question dominant narratives of nature and agency. His practice spans virtual reality, interactive installations, and performance and has been presented at venues such as Haunt, KINDL and Ars Electronica. Through sensorial and reflective formats, Daniel invites audiences to engage with the complex entanglements between humans and plants. His ongoing engagement with peatlands and paludiculture opens space for reimagining more empathetic, reciprocal ways of being.
