Jol Thoms (CA)
Jol Thoms (b. Tkaronto) is an artistic-researcher working between the arts and sciences in the domain of ‘Quantum Ecology’. His practice, motivated by the necessity for radical epistemic justice within Western societies’ scientific cosmology, reconfigures boundaries between the non/human and time-space-matter by resituating the primacy and omniscience of Mind. He utilises expanded situating practices and deep-field research to make sensible realities of the pluriverse across various domains, events and media. In 2021 Thoms founded Radio Amnion: Sonic Transmissions of Care in Oceanic Space, a collective sound ritual communicating with the Pacific Ocean during each full moon over a submerged neutrino telescopes' calibration system. Recent presentations: Tate Modern; Haus Der Kunst; 60th Venice Biennale; McaM Shanghai; Radio Alhara. He is Studio Lecturer on the MA Art & Ecology at Goldsmiths University of London and contributes to peer-reviewed journals in the arts and sciences.
