Yuko Hasegawa (JP)
Yuko Hasegawa is a curator and art critic. She is Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University, and Professor Emerita at Tokyo University of the Arts. She also serves as Program Director of the Art & Design Division at the International House of Japan, Visiting Professor at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, and Artistic Director of the Inujima “Art House Project.” She is a former Director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. She has received numerous honors, including the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Award (Japan, 2020), the Order of Arts and Letters, Chevalier (France, 2015), the Brazilian Order of Cultural Merit (2017), and the Order of Arts and Letters, Officier (France, 2024). She has curated major international exhibitions and biennales in Istanbul (2001), Shanghai (2002), São Paulo (2010), Sharjah (2013), Moscow (2017), and Thailand (2021), among others. Her projects also include Japanorama: New Vision on Art since 1970 and Japonismes 2018: Deepening—What Lies Beneath Japanese Aesthetics, introducing Japanese culture in France. From 2006 to 2016, she was Professor at Tama Art University, and from 2016 to 2023, Professor at the Graduate School of Global Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. She has served as Visiting Professor at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2023) and IUAV University of Venice (2025).
